Matthew Sankey is a keen supporter of the National Lobster Hatchery and the Cornish Fishery. For every lobster sold in his Seafood Brasserie & Oyster Bar in Kent; he promises to match the customers donation to pay for a lobster to be released back into the wild in Cornwall by the Lobster Hatchery. Sankey's has been recognised as the most sustainable Seafood Restaurant in the UK and holds the top spot with Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir & Walnut in London.

 

Wing of St Mawes have pledged to donate 50p for every lobster bought online to help conserve the vulnerable lobster populations and preserve the marine bio-diversity of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Check out their BUY ONE, STOCK ONE! scheme.

Shellfish Hatchery Systems Ltd have supplied the two Aquahive’s that have been installed in the hatchery in 2011 and now 2012. These systems have significantly increased our holding capacity for juvenile lobsters and we have therefore trebled our production in 2011 and our excited about the upcoming lobster season for 2012. Shellfish Hatchery Systems Ltd have been keen to support us over the years and provided some sponsorship for the 2012 hatchery development.

Waitrose commitment to supporting sustainable fisheries and fishing practices has enabled them to remain one of the UK’s leading seafood retailers.  For a fish to be termed 'sustainable' by Waitrose, it must be a species not commonly regarded as endangered or over-fished, come from a well-managed fishery with scientifically based quotas, be caught using selective fishing methods that minimise damage to the environment, and be fully traceable from catch to consumer.
