Caroline has joined the NLH to conduct her research project as part of her MRes Applied Marine Science Degree.

Dr Richard Thompson, from the University of Plymouth and Dom Boothroyd of the NLH are supervisors for the project.

Investigating artificial reef design for stage IV European lobsters (Homarus gammarus)

Aims of the Project

• Investigate whether stage IV hatchery reared lobsters will occupy man made shelters.
• Determine if there are any body size to shelter, dimension relationships.

This series of experiments will add to the limited literature regarding stage IV H. gammarus settlement choices and provide evidence for future artificial reef design projects which focus on this elusive stage.
