We aim to make a visit to the Lobster Hatchery rewarding for everyone. The main attraction has to be seeing the young lobsters growing up ready to be released, but we also have our resident giant lobster and Edible and Spider Crabs. We display a wealth of information about lobsters, the fishery and marine conservation, as well as activities for all ages. Our staff are always on hand to answer your questions and make sure you get the most from your visit.
New for 2016 we are offering Meet the Expert Tours ~ £12 Adults ~ £6 Children – Enjoy a 30 minute behind the scenes tour with our resident expert. Advance booking (at least one day in advance) essential, you can book by phone or in person at the Visitor Centre. Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 10.15am (arrive for 10am and meet in front of the maternity ward).
If you are booking for our Meet the Expert Tours there are a few things we need to make you aware of. Please make sure you wear sensible footwear (no heels), you will need to use the disinfectant footbaths upon entering and leaving the hatchery, you must be careful not to slip on the wet floors in the hatchery and children must be supervised at all times. It’s important that you avoid touching the tanks or water. As you can imagine, water quality is critical in successfully growing juvenile lobsters. We look forward to meeting you.

Really enjoyed seeing this, we were able to talk to lady behind counter who knew so much. It is only a shame this hatchery doesnt exist in every region. We sponsored a few Lobsters and are now eagerly awaiting their growth on the computer! This can suit whole family. Thanks…–David, Australia
We brought five 11 year old boys who were really interested, particularly in sponsoring a lobster. The lady was so friendly and relaxed with them and so knowledgeable…–MRS Beazley
