EUROPEAN LOBSTER CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE (ELCE)

ELCE Mission Statement
To share knowledge and experiences in order to fast track lobster aquaculture and lobster stocking programmes.

Aims:

* Develop mutually beneficial research programmes through consortium led funding applications.

* To share knowledge and experiences through an annual workshop with partner presentations.

* To share knowledge and experiences through a shared database.

* To share experiences and knowledge through a website and email group.

Ambitions
To develop a programme of research that will enable a lobster farming and lobster stocking industry to rapidly develop.

Background
The ELCE was established during an international meeting at the National Lobster Hatchery, Padstow, UK in April 2013.

At the second meeting of the ELCE in October 2013 in North Berwick it was agreed that the organisation required formalisation in order to develop further and in order to take advantage of funding opportunities. A set of rules for joining and participation were discussed and the requirement for some internal structure was discussed. The need for an annual workshop/conference was identified as a major part of the ELCE’s function.

The next conference is due to be held on the 18th & 19th May 2015 in Norway
