Become a Gift Aid Visitor
Gift Aid is a very simple idea from the taxman which enables The National Lobster Hatchery to reclaim the tax paid on donations. If instead of paying our admission fee you make a donation of equal value or more, you will receive free admission for a year and can come back free of charge as many times as you like for the next 12 months. For every £1 you donate, the government will give us an extra 25p of Gift Aid on top of your donation which will be additional funding for our charitable work. There’s no catch. You win. We win. And the taxman’s happy.
In order to gift aid you must be a UK taxpayer and have paid the same amount or more in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations (most of our visitors easily do) and it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
Please notify the charity if you:
- want to cancel this declaration
- change your name or home address
- no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains
If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.
